Urban Solar’s UL-listed lighting solutions improve visibility across a variety of urban environments and amenities, from transit stops and shelters to parking lots, pathways, greenways, and area illumination. Originally focused on providing solar lighting to the transit industry, Urban Solar’s ongoing success in this product niche reflects its reputation for reliable high-performance solar-powered lighting solutions.
King County Metro, one of the 10 largest public bus agencies in the United States with 8,000 bus stops and more than 1,800 shelters, recently awarded a ten-year contract to Urban Solar to provide solar LED lighting for its transit shelters and stops. Urban Solar’s PV-Shelter Series bus shelter–mounted lighting systems have powerful bright-white LED technology and intuitive power management, providing a safe and comfortable waiting environment for bus commuters. King County Metro, in the U.S. state of Washington, is one of many municipal and regional customers in North America sourcing sustainable transit infrastructure from Urban Solar.
“The Pacific Northwest can be seen as a challenging solar environment due to its grey weather and long rainy season,” says Jeff Peters, Urban Solar president. “This ten-year contract says volumes about our systems’ powerful technology.”
Urban Solar is a proud member of the U.S. Green Building Council and is a Living Wage for Families employer—committed to its employees for the long-term. It has also invested in the development of the next generation of solar innovators with the establishment of an achievement award and bursary for students in the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s electrical trades program. Urban Solar is also proud to support several local charities.
